Must Reads in the field of sustainable architecture

According to Architecture in Development, Handmade Urbanism and Make_Shift City are must reads in the field of sustainable participatory architecture. AID asked members, staff, and partners to suggest books that every designer or architect working in this field should read. Impact Design Hub has picked their five favorites from this list—including both books by JOVIS:

Handmade Urbanism “is all about inspiration and positivism; a proof that multidisciplinary teams and a strong network of  partners can be the key of success when driving bottom-up projects.”

Make_Shift City: “Francesca Ferguson has compiled a great collection of stories, essays and interviews which represents the latest addition to a growing literature on the mix of uncertainty, austerity, insecurity and temporality as the landscape for re-imagining the city.”
