The work of photographer and artist Nicolas Grospierre combines photography, art, and architecture. In his works he explores the traces that modern architecture has left behind in the collective memory. His ambiguous photographs and installations reflect the hopes and disappointments of modern utopias. The book Open-Ended presents works from the last ten years, through more than 200 images. It includes classical documentary photography, as well as installations set in specific locations. From the series “The Afterlife of Buildings”—awarded the Golden Lion in Venice in 2008—to the fascinating thought-provoking scenarios, as well as the installations “The Library” or “The Bank”, this opulent volume presents an overview of the artist’s work, accompanied by analytical essays and detailed commentaries on the individual works.
