The BDA (Association of German Architects) Berlin presents its year book 2005. More than 50 architectural offices in Berlin have submitted their current projects to this publication, which includes many photographs and drawings and gives brief statements on architectural standpoints and working methods. These designs explore the interplay between city and architecture in innovative, surprising ways: the year book offers a survey of building work in Berlin – from interior design to urban planning – and shows that stylistic debate has been left behind to pave the way for an original, independent character of building in recent years. Ernst Hubeli also investigates the unique urbanity of Berlin in his essay “Heading Schweger Assoziierte for a Situationist Metropolis”. In this publication, the BDA architects underline the quality of their work and acknowledge their responsibility as the advocates of architectural culture: despite frequent lament, top-class solutions are still being found for a wide range of architectonic questions in the capital.
