The Ralf Schmitz residential building company, with its headquarters in Kempen/Niederrhein, can celebrate an impressive anniversary in October 2014. It can look back proudly over an eventful and vibrant history of 150 years. It was built up over five generations and developed further continuously, proving that it was capable of adapting to the changing social requirements of the times and of providing suitable solutions. On the occasion of this significant anniversary, this presentation traces the developmental stages that have shaped the history of the company, from its foundation to the present day, and illuminates them through texts and images. The focus is especially on considering the wealth of building projects that have been designed and realized over the course of the 150 years. This seems all the more important considering that there are countless critiques of great and not so great architects, but only very few that deal with the complex oeuvre of a building company and therefore illuminate the architectural works from a different qualitative perspective.
